AlphaDry One Piece Catheter - Care & Helpful Hints
HOURS OF USE
AlphaDry should not be worn constantly day and night. We recommend at least one break every 24 hours.
CLEANING THE ALPHADRY
Clean the AlphaDry after each use with mild, soapy water. The easiest way is to fill up a sink with warm, mild sudsy water. Open the Blue exit valve of the AlphaDry and dunk the entire unit in and out of the water. Some people use an antibacterial soap for this process. Dilute the soap in the water; never pour full strength liquid soap into the AlphaDry. Try to get soapy water into the reservoir portion by filling the condom portion, holding the top closed, and squeezing the solution into the reservoir portion.
Rinse the AlphaDry thoroughly in clear water so as not to leave any soapy residue on or inside it. You can easily run water through it by holding the condom portion under a faucet and letting water run through the entire AlphaDry. Hang the AlphaDry from the Blue valve with the condom facing down. Allow it to dry overnight, leaving the Blue exit valve open.
CLEANING THE PENIS
After removing the AlphaDry, wash the penis with mild, soapy water and rinse completely. Allow skin to dry 10 minutes before reapplying a clean AlphaDry.
CAUTION
If you experience any evidence of an infection, stop wearing the AlphaDry immediately and contact a physician. After the infection clears up, you may wish to resume using the AlphaDry system. In the future, make sure that both the AlphaDry and penis are thoroughly cleaned, rinsed, and dried. You might also want to reduce the number of hours that you wear the AlphaDry system.
RECOMMENDED ROTATION OF ALPHADRY
Typically, our customers will rotate the use of 1-3 AlphaDrys to insure they have one clean, dry unit available to wear.
REPLACE ALPHADRY EVERY 15 DAYS
Bacteria and mold can build up in the reservoir with repeated use. For best results and to minimize the risk of infection, it is important to replace your AlphaDry after 15 days of use. If you are alternating two AlphaDrys every other day as recommended, replace both every 30 days.
